Valley of misery

Overview

The Valley of Mexico, the morning after the massacre. Everything vibrates with the energy of the fall. High in the mountains, among ruins, a woman stages a scene: that of a mother watching over a daughter lost in the last battle of 1521. An unknown force pushes her toward the summit. Lined with stones, her path crosses several myths and stories born of the Conquest of America that have shaped Mexican identity: the Child Martyrs of Tlaxcala, the invention of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the Golden Age... These stories intersect with the woman's personal history, and the ghost of the daughter taken in 1521 is confused with that of a daughter taken from her in the 21st century by a violent husband. The city awakens, cinema observes everything and, unable to oppose the violence, becomes complicit in the destruction
